Happy Easter From Hale and Zetta!

Easter Eggs!

This year I decided that Hale was probably old enough to enjoy dying Easter eggs. As I boiled the eggs, I tried to explain what I had in store for him.

Me: We're going to dye eggs!

H: What?

Me: Dye eggs. Like, color them.

H: With my new markers?

Me: No, with dye. We're going to soak them. Like a bath.

H: In the bathtub?

Me: No. Umm...I guess it will be easier to show you.

Of course, it didn't take long for him to catch on. I was really impressed by his steady hands. He didn't even get dye on them.

See! They're clean!

He even learned how to use the wire scooper.

The final products.

Did you notice the H on the orange egg? He did pretty well considering the curved surface.

These eggs were his treasures the rest of the day. He carried them around and made little "nests" for them all over the house. They even got a ride in the back of his dump truck. He was pretty careful but did drop a few. I think we're down to 6.

A Family Treasure

Landon's maternal grandmother is a very talented quilter. She has blessed every grandchild (and now great-grandchild) with his/her very own quilt. Hale's quilt can be seen in this first post about him. He still sleeps with it.

A few weeks ago Grandma Hilda presented Zetta with her quilt. It is so beautiful. It was hard not to get emotional when I unwrapped it because I know that Zetta will treasure it her whole life. Grandma put many hours into the quilt and Zetta will remember how much she is loved whenever she sees it.

Here are some pictures I took of Zetta on her quilt.

The pattern is called Tumbling Blocks. Can you see them?

And, of course, Hale couldn't miss out...

Girls Weekend

Last weekend Zetta and I headed over the mountains to eastern Washington for a girls weekend. It was really fun to catch up with my college friends and celebrate Marla - a mommy-to-be! Jen was a wonderful hostess as usual. I arrived late on Friday and we woke up to these fun decorations on Saturday! The yellow was a very intentional choice - when we think of Marla we all think yellow. I think it IS actually of her favorite colors, but mostly it just perfectly represents her sunny and sparkly disposition. Jen always has everything beautiful - down to the last detail. Notice the adorable yellow food. Jen and I did a little photo shoot of glowing Marla. And then, I set my camera down and didn't pick it up again. So I didn't get any pictures of the best part - visiting with the girls! They are each so special to me. It was so good to be together. See more pictures at Jen's blog or Carly's blog.
